Based in Athens GA, The Misfit House is a full-service interior design firm founded in 2016 by Monica Stewart. The ethos of The Misfit House is that our homes, whether big or small, elaborate or simple, rustic or modern, should be a peaceful place where we make our most special memories.
Monica Stewart is also the founder of a lighting company, Evolve Lighting Co, which was created with the same ideals of authentic materials and lots of vintage.
"Our family moved many times throughout my childhood and always into houses that were mostly furnished and without option of renovation. Despite faded wallpaper, electric green shag carpet, and orange plaid scratchy sofas, my mother arranged and rearranged until it felt like home.
Growing up in misfit houses inspired me to pursue helping others enjoy their homes. We approach every project by beginning with a source of sentiment and inspiration because meaningful authentic homes are timeless. We build our designs around what matters most." - Monica Stewart
