Details & Dimensions

Practical, useful, and timeless, the Marolles Bar Stool is functional design at its best. The original work of the Artisans de Marolles—a cooperative founded by artist and sculptor Jean Touret—has been featured in Elle Decor, The New York Times, and is gaining recognition in the design community, yet fewer than 100 were produced in the 1950s. Today, with the support of the Touret family, Furniture Marolles is reviving the collection: each seat is handcrafted in American White Oak by artisans in California, using centuries-old methods that leave evidence of the maker's hand and applying the same details as the original model: the carved seat, shaped legs, and steel staples. Still, the proportions and refinement suggest a modern-era designer, giving the stool a look that's both current and historic. Please note that imperfections and variations in pattern and color are a natural part of American oak. You may expect to see naturally occurring knots, checks and fine cracks. These will not cause structural deficiencies as they are a natural part of the hardwood. We view these elements not as flaws, but as reminders of the tree that provided the wood for the your piece.
