Much more than just a printed wallpaper, indigo is considered a symbol of the link between heaven and earth. This design is printed with a replica of a popular textile from Mali, where it might take artisans upto a week to prepare a vat of dye to an exacting shade. The motif is achieved by pinching, sewing, and tying the undyed cloth according to precise patterns; once dye is applied to the material, the ties are removed to reveal the markings.
This fabric requires a 5 yard minimum order, and is sold in full-yard increments in continuous rolls thereafter. Match: Half-dropped. Untrimmed. Heavy weight paper. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this wallpaper supports St. Frank’s artisan partners.
