This 1930s stained pine side table from Axel Einar Hjorth’s rare Sportstugemöbler (or weekend house furniture) collection for Nordiska Kompaniet is a prime example of simple lines and humble materials that transcend time and space. The piece was intended for Swedish summer homes and espouses different influences including the linear compositions of French Art Deco and the rustic charms of Arts & Crafts. It has been refinished in Los Angeles to excellent condition.
